State Librarian’s Welcome

I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of libraries acting as living laboratories; spaces where communities can learn by doing.

Over the course of the 2011 Ideas Festival a diverse range of activities will be happening at the State Library of Queensland, providing a place for experimentation, discussion and debate. Speakers from different backgrounds will provide a catalyst for conversations; free workshops, an apocalyptic survival scenario and an urban garden will create a space for hands on learning; and a schedule of special events add more opportunities to have your say.

And the conversations don’t stop at the end of the Festival. All year round the State Library presents a vibrant program of events, exhibitions, workshops and children’s programs so that ideas can be a part of your calendar.

We look forward to welcoming you to the State Library for the Ideas Festival.
