Ladies and gents alike are invited to find their inner fashionista and embrace the art of collage as an alternative to the ‘fashion design sketch’. Working with the team from the stitchery collective, participants will explore an experimental approach to design which embraces chance and humour to develop their own creative illustrations.
the stitchery
the stitchery is a community of young women inspired by the potential of clothes and creative making as a way to develop and maintain joyous connections with people. Based in Brisbane it is a collective, an idea and a meeting point. It joins the unlikely bedfellows of fashion and social welfare in order to facilitate meaningful exchanges between individuals and communities. Working against popular opinion, the stitchery believes that fashion can be mobilised as a force for good in the world. Their vision is to use fashion and clothes-making as a platform for community engagement through workshops, skill sharing and social development.
