Sustainability: it’s a word used in the context of everything from the environment to the economy, housing, business and society in general. But stop a moment to consider: what does sustainability really mean? Do we need to have a shared meaning of sustainability to achieve it? And are we headed towards achieving sustainability in Queensland? Coming together to answer and discuss your questions are the Premier of Queensland and Minister for Reconstruction Anna Bligh, Minister for Environment and Resource Management Kate Jones and Green Building Council of Australia’s Manager of Sustainable Communities Adam Beck. Journalist Lisa Backhouse will moderate the discussion.

In light of the summer we have all experienced, with flooding, cyclones and subsequent geographical isolation; would it not be a viable, and perhaps, imperative time to look at re-introducing regional warehousing for all food supplies, rather than the centralised warehousing currently in place?
Is there some form of incentive to the major growers/producers and warehousers to look at diversification within their supply chain of product?
Surely this will create a more sustainable way of managing food supplies, with less carbon miles and a more secure form of ‘grocery’ equity to regional districts in emergent situations like the flooding of this summer?
Hi Lee, these are all great points. If you would like to submit a question for the Premier to answer in this session you can do so here: http://bit.ly/jzy8Hk
